Introduction

Overview

The simplicity of calculating the trajectory of a projectile is often overestimated to a large degree. Luckily, grasping a basic understanding of exterior ballistics can be achieved with minimal prior knowledge. The goal of this series is to provide a detailed, step-by-step explanation of how to calculate trajectory starting from basic principles.

Note: This series of articles was written to try and keep the knowledge barrier of entry low. To do that, some explanations may not be 100% correct in a technical mathematical sense. This is the knuckle dragger version of modelling projectile flight. If you are mathematically adept, there are plenty of more detailed, complicated, resources available which may be better suited for you.
